REDMOND, Wash., Oct. 4, 1999 — Microsoft Corp. today launched the Windows® 2000 Customer Preview Tour, co-sponsored by Compaq Computer Corp. and Windows NT® Magazine. The 40-city tour will give IT professionals and user group members around the United States the opportunity to meet with the engineers of Microsoft® Windows 2000 and discuss the features, benefits, deployment and administration of Microsoft’s next-generation operating system.
“We have learned that the best way for people to understand the benefits of a product like Windows 2000 is to see it and use it,”
said Jim Allchin, senior vice president of the Platforms Division, Microsoft Corp.
“The Windows 2000 Customer Preview Tour is a great opportunity for us to solicit feedback on our product and give customers the tips, tricks and tools they need to be successful with Windows 2000.”
The tour is scheduled to begin on Monday, Oct. 4 in Denver and will continue across the country for two months, ending in Seattle on Dec. 9. Attendees can expect a demonstration of the latest product features and get the most recent information from Windows 2000 experts on installing, deploying and maintaining the upcoming operating system. In addition, attendees will receive a free copy of Windows 2000 Release Candidate 2, which will allow them to apply the real-world expertise learned in the session.
“Microsoft understands IT professionals’ needs, and Windows 2000 will support the most demanding business environment,”
said Nancy Pearce, president, Vancouver Windows NT User Group.
“We are excited that Microsoft is coming to Vancouver and providing an opportunity for us to see the product firsthand, contribute our feedback, and ask questions.”
