Microsoft Launches Embedded Tools Partner Program

SEATTLE, Oct. 19, 1999 — Today at the Microsoft® Embedded Partner Summit in Seattle, Microsoft Corp. launched the Embedded Tools Partner program for developers of embedded systems tools. Microsoft and the 27 charter members will provide customers with highly functional, integrated embedded system development tool suites for the Windows® CE and Windows NT® Embedded operating systems and Windows-Powered Smart Cards.

“In the world of embedded systems development, it is critical to manage complexity and reduce time to market,” said Harel Kodesh, vice president of the Productivity Appliance Division at Microsoft. “ISVs are creating embedded systems products that give hardware and software developers the advantage they need to win. Significant market opportunities exist for tools supporting Microsoft embedded technologies in areas such as hardware debugging, run-time analysis, system on chip design, computer-aided software engineering and components. Top vendors have responded to demand by joining this program to work more closely with Microsoft.”

Program participants receive numerous technical and marketing benefits. Microsoft will provide comprehensive technical assistance, including early access to releases of Microsoft software, advance interface specifications and invitations to technical summits. A special focus of the program is to provide support for integration of third-party embedded systems products with Microsoft development tools, giving embedded systems developers a seamless, end-to-end development environment.
