iGo Recharges Web Site With Microsoft Commerce Server 2000

REDMOND, Wash., Jan. 22, 2002 — Microsoft Corp. today announced that iGo Corp., a leading mobile and wireless accessory solutions provider, has implemented Microsoft® Commerce Server 2000, in conjunction with the Windows® 2000 operating system and SQL Server™ 2000, as its e-commerce solution and has seen increased scalability and a lower total cost of ownership. The iGo Web site, http://www.igo.com/ , was originally based on an externally managed and hosted commerce platform that lacked needed integration with its in-house order fulfillment systems. After finding that solution was not suited for the rapid growth and increasing complexity of its Web-based transactions, iGo switched to the Microsoft .NET Platform.

“We depend on our Web site to carry out daily business transactions in an efficient and cost-effective manner, so we needed an e-commerce solution that was scalable to our growing business and could help decrease IT costs,” said Rick Shaff, president and CEO of iGo. “Since the new Web site went live in April 2001, weve experienced substantial cost and time savings due to workflow automation and complete integration of the entire Web infrastructure. While updates used to take 24 hours to implement, with Commerce Server 2000, they occur instantly, allowing us to react much more quickly to the needs of our customers.”

iGo, which enables more than half of the Fortune 500 and mobile professionals worldwide to efficiently purchase and receive mobile products and services overnight, engaged InterKnowlogy LLC as its Microsoft Certified Partner for assistance in the switch. InterKnowlogy helped iGo implement Microsoft Commerce Server 2000, SQL Server 2000 and Windows 2000 in just 90 days, lowering transaction costs by an estimated 30 percent per order.
