Microsoft Announces Partners for Microsoft Operations Manager

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 29, 2003 — As part of the Dynamic Systems Initiative, Microsoft Corp. today announced new partners for Microsoft®
Operations Manager (MOM) 2000, addressing the management challenge for enterprise customers by providing interoperable support for a variety of platforms and applications.

“Today at PDC (Microsoft Professional Developers Conference), we are announcing a number of exciting partner efforts that offer enterprise customers advanced management functionality,” said David Hamilton, director of the Enterprise Management Division at Microsoft Corp. “Through a new Web services-based MOM Connector Framework and range of new Management Packs from our industry partners, MOM helps keep mission-critical applications and systems running smoothly.”

MOM Connector Framework

The Web services-based MOM Connector Framework (MCF) allows customers to integrate MOM with third-party management tools. The MCF enables full bidirectional alert forwarding and synchronization, providing increased management benefits for customers.

Working with leading management vendors, Microsoft today unveiled the first wave of MOM Connectors for Aprisma Management Technologies, Computer Associates International Inc., HP, IBM Corp.’s Tivoli Systems Inc. Software Division, Maranti Networks Inc., MetiLinx Inc., Micromuse Inc., NetIQ Corp., SMARTS (System Management ARTS Inc.) and Skywire Software.

Management Packs

Microsoft today launched a new Management Pack catalog for Microsoft Operations Manager that offers vital information about new Management Packs from leading application vendors, including Dell Inc., eXc Software LLC, HP, NetIQ Corp. and VERITAS Software Corp.

Also today at PDC, Actional Corp., AmberPoint, Inc., Computer Associates International Inc. and Service Integrity Inc. are announcing the availability of Management Packs specifically oriented toward Web services management. These companies are enabling customers to integrate MOM with their specialized Web services management tools to deliver broad enterprise solutions.
