Media Alert: Microsoft to Showcase Innovative Solutions for Health Plans at AHIP Institute 2008

SAN FRANCISCO — June 16, 2008

What:

At America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) Institute 2008, Microsoft Corp. will showcase new solutions designed for the health plans industry, such as the following:

  • Driving business performance with Microsoft Office Business Applications (OBAs)

    • Health plans are challenged with costly paper and manual processes when responding to proposals. Microsoft will highlight a demo titled Automating the Request for Proposal (RFP) Process, an OBA designed to eliminate “people as middleware” between productivity and line-of-business applications.

  • Improving customer experience with Microsoft unified communications

    • Microsoft’s unified communications suite enables health plans to offer chat-based conversations with their members, conducted virtually or with a live agent, allowing consumers to communicate using their own words. Microsoft will demonstrate how this can help improve first call resolution rates and shorten average call and hold times, resulting in a quick return on investment.

  • Accelerate innovation and process improvement with Microsoft Office Visio

    • Health plan business managers can significantly accelerate innovation by reducing the complexity and cost of analyzing and improving business and care processes. This demonstration will feature a simple, Office Visio-based tool that empowers everyday business managers to easily and quickly make informed decisions to help improve the processes most likely to improve quality and the bottom line.
