Rise and shine! Bing finds out which US cities are early risers

Inspired by Nate Silver’s recent experiment of examining major U.S. cities’ work arrival times, Bing data scientists explored the search engine’s usage as a barometer for when people get online, start work or wake up. As you can see from the infographic, New Yorkers are the latest to get up and at ‘em in the a.m.

Using the plugin, visitors can translate a site into any of more than 40 supported languages in one click, without leaving the page once this lightweight, cross-browser plugin is installed. This plugin also provides options for suggesting translations.

Check out the fun emoticons that are part of your Surface keyboard :)

No matter how long you’ve had your Surface, it’s always fun to learn some new tips, and the Surface Blog shares some, including where to find emoticons. Access your Touch Keyboard on the bottom right-hand side of your taskbar and click the smiley face. You’ll find nine categories of emoticons to choose from.

Urban legend true: Xbox dig finds long-buried Atari ‘E.T.’ video game cartridges

After a few hours of digging down past 30 feet of debris, excavators found what they were looking for: “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” game cartridges that had been buried by Atari three decades ago in a landfill in New Mexico. The excavation was filmed over the weekend as part of an Xbox Entertainment Studios original documentary series to be released only on Xbox One and Xbox 360 later this year.
