Sprint to debut first Windows Phone 8 device HTC 8XT on July 19

At long last, the wait is nearly over for Sprint customers who want to get their hands on a Windows Phone 8 device. On July 19, Sprint will make the HTC 8XT available for $99.99 “with a new line or eligible upgrade, two-year service agreement and $50 mail-in rebate via reward card,” according to a blog post from Sprint today.

Xbox Live Arcade games for those lazy, crazy, hazy days of summer

Summer of Arcade, the annual event on Xbox Live Arcade, kicks off Aug. 7. Major Nelson announced the schedule, pricing, and details for the summertime gaming extravaganza. New games launch each week during Summer of Arcade including titles like “Charlie Murder” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows,” and the games can be purchased for between 800 and 1,200 points.

Windows 8 takes center stage at Worldwide Partner Conference

At Microsoft’s annual Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) in Houston, Texas, executives discussed the company’s approach to services and devices. Tami Reller, Windows chief marketing officer and chief financial officer, announced that Windows 8.1 release to manufacturing (RTM) will be available for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners in late August, so they can prepare Windows 8.1 devices just in time for the holidays.
