EGov: Microsoft to roll out Windows 10 on July 29

Software giant Microsoft will launch the latest version of its operating system, Windows 10, on July 29 across 190 countries. “Windows 10 will be available … as a free upgrade to customers running on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1,” Microsoft said in a statement. “Windows 10 marks the beginning of a new era of personal technology, designed to empower people to do great things.”

Outlook.com users are getting a redesigned Skype experience that will run alongside their inboxes on the web. The new design, which Microsoft announced Wednesday, puts users’ Skype contacts, messaging and video chat in a pane to the right of the inbox. One-on-one conversations and group chats are displayed in a column of bubbles along the right-hand side of the window, so users can get easy access to them.

Called Manovue, it is a multi-utility wearable haptic device which enables the user to read any printed text by moving his finger over the text and helps him move around freely outside well-known environments by providing haptic feedback.

Medianama: Microsoft to release Windows 10 by the end of July

Microsoft has announced that the final build of Windows 10 will be available worldwide starting July 29. The operating system will cost $110 for the home edition and $199 for the Pro edition. This will however be applicable only to new users, as pre-existing users of Windows 7 & 8 will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free.

Indian Express: Microsoft to start preview of cloud services from local DCs in July

Microsoft will allow customers to participate in the private preview of Microsoft Azure from Indian data centres in July. This will give them a head-start to run trials of their apps on Microsoft Azure from local infrastructure. “Services from local data centres will open infinite computing capacity for Indian government departments, banks, telecom companies and enterprises or all sizes,” said Scott Guthrie, Executive Vice President, Microsoft Cloud and Enterprise Group.
