Microsoft Korea helps Lotte Hotel build a hyper-automated work environment with Power Platform

  • Lotte Hotel automates tasks without IT expertise and lets AI robots manage repetitive tasks…saving 10,000 hours per year across 17 hotels.
  • Companies using Microsoft 365 for Enterprise have access to Power Platform to minimize the cost of building and operating business automation systems.
  • Lotte Hotel encourages employees to utilize Power Platform through RPA council activities such as contests and rewards…Planning to expand its usage to app development and more.

Microsoft Korea has helped Lotte Hotel to build a business automation environment with Power Platform.

Power Platform is Microsoft’s low-code solution that empowers everyone to build apps and automate organizational processes without being an expert developer. Power Platform includes Power Apps for app development, Power Automate for process automation, Power BI for business analytics, and Power Page for external-facing websites for business.

Lotte Hotel recently created an automated work environment using Microsoft Power Platform. It enables employees to automate necessary tasks with training and entrust repetitive tasks to AI-powered robots. With Power Platform, Lotte Hotel was able to build an automated reservation system that automatically stores and manages reservation information from external platforms, which in the past the employees had to transfer and enter into the company’s reservation system. This helped save approximately 10,000 hours per year across its 17 hotels nationwide and reduce errors that may have been occurred due to manual work.

In addition, Lotte hotel minimized the cost of building and operating their automated work environment. Traditional robotic processing automation (RPA) systems require a per-unit license fee. Power Platform, on the other hand, is an extensible solution for Microsoft 365 enterprise plans, and Lotte Hotel was able to easily access features for individual users and apply them to internal system. Lotte Hotel is also investing in employee training, helping them use Power Platform to create RPA models for their work.

Lotte Hotel has launched an RPA council for its 17 hotels nationwide to share experiences and knowledge about Power Platform. The council plays a role to host RPA contests and gathering relevant ideas. The company also runs a program to reward those who have achieved cost savings through RPA in the field. Sharing examples and methods of RPA usage is further increasing work productivity.

Lotte Hotel is planning to expand the use of Power Platform to solve various challenges. They are considering applying the solution across customer service and internal operations, such as employees’ development of apps and web pages. The Power Platform allows access and use of Microsoft’s advanced AI technologies such as chatbots and Azure OpenAI Service. Lotte Hotel expects that employees with practical and on-the-job experience will use such features and bring significant improvement to work efficiency and productivity.

“Microsoft Power Platform has been instrumental in incorporating automation like RPA into the hotel’s work culture. This allowed us with more resources to improve customer satisfaction,” said Junwoo Kim, Digital Strategy Director at Lotte Hotel. “We were able to automate tasks in the fully secured space and build the features we needed without professional developers, which has greatly increased our efficiency.”

“Power Platform is an intuitive and flexible platform optimized to solve today’s business challenges, including budget, time, and resource constraints, skills gaps, security, and compliance,” said Ohsung Kwon, Microsoft Korea Business Applications Lead. “We will continue to help companies in Korea maximize their business productivity in an easier, more efficient, and secure way.”
