Meet former pro-football player Steve Gleason, who is battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), uses his Microsoft Surface to communicate and inspire others who have been diagnosed with the disease.

German bank Volksbank Mittelhessen wanted its trainees to have the most up-to-date training information and documentation, as well as to be flexible about when and where they access the information, and decided the best way to achieve those goals was to give each of their trainees a Surface tablet.

Surface is now the official technology partner for We Make Movies, a Los Angeles nonprofit organization of filmmakers, reports Markus Weickenmeier, Surface manager. “The power and portability of Surface Pro are perfect for today’s young filmmaker and the passion and community behind We Make Movies makes this a wonderful partnership,” he writes on the Surface Blog.

This week, members of the Surface team are working in London with global leaders in education at the annual BETT (British Educational Training and Technology) Show, where educational technology is the key topic, and Surface continues to play a greater role, writes Cyril Belikoff, Surface director.

Surface is finding a happy home in schools, so the product team decided to hold the Surface Classroom Design Challenge, asking students and other enthusiasts to put on their thinking caps and help re-imagine the classroom with Surface as a learning tool.
