BANGKOK, March 4, 2016 – Today, businesses around the world continue to face the escalating threat of malicious software and cyberattacks, both of which can cause significant damage to an organization’s assets and public image. Thailand is no exception to this global phenomenon. The latest report compiled by the Thailand Computer Emergency Response Team (ThaiCERT) names Thailand as the third most vulnerable country in the world to cybercrime[1]. Similarly, the Microsoft Digital Crimes Unit (DCU) published its Malware Infection Index report in early 2015 and ranked Thailand as the fifth in the world in malware prevalence behind India, Indonesia, China, and Vietnam. Furthermore, the report specified that a large proportion of these infections had begun in 2014.

“As a leading player in the global IT industry, Microsoft invests more than a billion dollars each year in security technologies R&D for our products and cloud services in order to offer customers complete confidence in entering the mobile and cloud era,” said John Case, corporate vice president, Apps & Services, Microsoft Corporation. “Microsoft cloud infrastructure now supports over 1 billion customers – including both enterprise and consumer – across 140 countries worldwide, and 85% of Fortune 500 companies have placed their trust in the Microsoft Cloud.

“Office 365 Enterprise E5 comes with Office 2016, the latest version of the Office productivity suite that has been developed specifically to tackle challenges facing enterprise customers in the mobile and cloud era. In addition to being the best and most secure version of Office yet, Office 2016 delivers an excellent platform for collaboration, powerful analytics, and complete safety and transparency in the cloud. For the first time ever, customers have total control and confidence over data access rights and can prevent even system administrators from accessing said data without explicit permission –makes Office 365 the most complete, most secured cloud productivity offering ever in the mobile-first, cloud-first world,” added Case.

Office 365 is the fastest growing commercial product in Microsoft’s history. Today, there are 1.2 billion Office users around the world. On the enterprise front, Office 365 now encompasses a user base of 60 million commercial seats – a figure that continues to double every year.

From a global perspective, industries that were among the first to move to the cloud were services and consultancy industry, tourism, airlines and hospitality, media companies, retail, and food & beverage. Some of Microsoft’s global customers include British Airways and Accenture. In Thailand, the financial services industry is the most progressive in terms of cloud adoption. Other industries in Thailand that are also increasingly embracing cloud adoption include the airline industry, retail and food & beverage. Enterprises which have already adopted Office 365 include TMB Bank, Capital Nomura, Nok Air, Thai Smile, Dusit International, Zen Corporation Group, Diethelm Travel, and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) among others.

“When we first launched Office 365 in Thailand three years ago, most enterprise customers approached Microsoft with the questions of ‘why cloud, is it secure, is it safe.’ These days, customers are approaching us with the ‘I’d like to move to the cloud, how do I do it’ questions instead. This suggests that enterprises are increasingly embracing cloud adoption,” said Panjaporn Vittayalerdpun, Application and Service Marketing Business Group Lead, Microsoft (Thailand) Limited. “In fact, Thailand is the second fastest growing market in Asia Pacific for Office 365 last year.”

With Office 365 Enterprise E5, Microsoft can handle your organization’s security and provide refined user controls over privacy and transparency, while a range of new innovations ensures that this is the most secure Office ever.
