Bangkok, 9 September 2016 – Public Health Minister Dr. Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn (2nd from right) experienced augmented reality technology first-hand at the HIMSS AsiaPac 16 conference, which was recently held at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. The technology is being assessed by Vital Images as part of their development of cutting-edge imaging solutions for healthcare. With the Microsoft HoloLens, Vital Images is exploring the possibility of enabling doctors and patients to interact with high-definition, immersive views of a patient’s anatomy – a capability that is believed to help shape the future of the healthcare industry in Thailand.
Also on display at the conference were the latest innovations from Singapore-based RingMD, represented here by Chief Executive Officer Justin Fulcher (left). Through a partnership with Microsoft – led by Callum Bir (right), Director, Healthcare Industry, Microsoft Asia Pacific – RingMD has created a more accessible healthcare network designed to connect patients with doctors around the world. Utilizing the power of the Microsoft Azure cloud platform and the company’s own suite of proprietary technologies, RingMD currently provides remote consultation and virtual care services in text, audio, and video formats for over 5 million registered users in 10 markets across Asia – backed by the expertise of over 15,000 registered doctors.
