Microsoft today announced its largest‑ever investment in Australia, committing A$25 billion by 2029 to expand AI and cloud infrastructure, strengthen cyber security and deliver workforce‑ready AI skills at national scale. The investment will deepen collaboration with government on national cyber resilience, and support safe and responsible AI adoption. It will support expected growth across Commercial Cloud and AI/GPU offerings for customers in Australian cloud regions, with plans underway to expand Microsoft’s existing footprint by more than 140 percent by the end of 2029. Microsoft will also skill three million Australians by 2028, positioning Australia to lead in AI‑driven innovation while ensuring the benefits of AI are shared widely and responsibly.
