Bing polls stars for their Oscar picks and they choose Leonardo DiCaprio as ‘Best Actor’

During The Hollywood Reporter’s annual Oscar Nominees Night event, Bing polled nominees using the Bing Ballot on the red carpet and found out who the stars think will take home statues in the top categories including Best Movie, Best Actor and Best Actress. As the Bing Search Blog reports, among the Oscar nominees participating in the voting were David O. Russell, Barkhad Abdi, Jared Leto and Ethan Hawke.

Bing helps map lesser-known communities and reduce digital divide

There are still many places that don’t show up on maps – 99 percent of major urban settlements in places like Johannesburg and Rio, where millions of people live in shantytowns and favelas. To help tourists – and locals – find merchants, restaurants and attractions there they might not otherwise find, a Microsoft team in Brazil has begun a project to start building a new mapping infrastructure in the favelas.

‘Robocop’ shows what Bing might look like in the future

When Sony Pictures asked the visual team at Bing Studios to come up with a concept for search in the not-too-distant future for its upcoming “Robocop” reboot, they didn’t hesitate to step up to cooperate. As the Bing Search Blog reports, “Since the film is set in 2028 (and not, say, 3028), the team wanted a vision for Bing that was true to the story and innovations on the horizon, but still very much grounded in today’s reality.”
