After rounds of competitions and knock outs, 35 finalists are on their way to Seattle for the World Finals. This year we are pleased to announce there are nine finalists representing Asia – India, Taiwan, Australia, Korea, Japan, China, the Philippines, New Zealand and Pakistan – congratulations!
Asia was well represented in the online challenge, too. Two of the three teams who won US$5,000 in the Skype Award were from the region. Eyenaemia from Australia and Code Buzzers from Nepal! You can watch their award-winning Skype videos now on the new Awards & Challenges page.
Imagine Cup 2014 is set to be the most exciting in Imagine Cup history, with Microsoft’s new CEO Satya Nadella confirmed as one of the VIP judges. The US$50,000 cash prize will not be all the top teams are competing for – winners of each category are in for a life-changing experience – a customized Boot Camp in partnership with Microsoft Ventures, Microsoft YouthSpark and PAX.
Believe it or not, the prizes don’t stop there! One Imagine Cup World Finalist team will be selected for a private meeting with Bill Gates! For those that haven’t entered, Imagine Cup is calling for everyone to participate. How you would spend your one-on-one time with Bill Gates? Have your say on Twitter #ifImetBillG.
Hosting from Microsoft’s hometown of Seattle, Imagine Cup 2014 runs from July 29 to August 2.
On the final day, there will be a special one-day only event – Imagine Cup Day at the Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) where finalists will showcase their projects and visitors will be voting for the People’s Choice Award.
We are just getting geared up for the Finals so stay tuned and good luck!
