BINUS University enhances online learning with Windows 8.1

JAKARTA, June 27, 2014 – BINUS University, in partnership with Microsoft and ASUS, today announced the deployment of Windows 8.1 based ASUS Transformer Book T100 devices to enhance its online learning. The devices will be used by diploma, bachelor’s and master’s degree students within the BINUS Online Learning program.

“As the pioneer of ICT-based higher education institution in Indonesia, BINUS University takes advantage of the most advanced technology for our academic system. This is why we establish our partnership with Microsoft and ASUS in maximizing our learning methods in Online Learning as the pioneer of online education in Indonesia,” said Prof. Dr. Ir. They include professionals, business owners, athletes, and many more, with high desire to develop themselves but have very limited time due to their activities. Windows 8.1 is fast, fluid and delivers a connected experience for users; as well as advances the bold vision with a blend of the desktop experience and the modern UI experience with the reimagined Start Screen, powered by Bing for a complete Windows experience. The modern OS enables leading consumer electronics brands like ASUS to design innovative hybrid computing device that can function as a tablet or notebook to address the growing need for mobility.

ASUS Transformer Book T100 comes with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 integrated with the cloud via OneDrive, and a set of security features such as Windows Defender and SmartScreen. “Windows 8.1 on tablet devices such as ASUS Transformer Book T100 allows students to collaborate more securely and multitask easily,” said Lucky Gani, Business Group Head, Windows Division, Microsoft Indonesia.

Rex Lee, Regional Director of ASUS South East Asia, also expressed the same notion, ”Today ASUS is entering the commercial business, especially education segment, and we have the perfect device for this industry in the form of ASUS Transformer Book T100,” said Rex Lee.

ASUS Transformer Book T100 is an ultraportable, hybrid notebook, featuring Intel BayTrail Z3740 quad-core processor and 10.1-inch HD screen. When its keyboard is detached, the 1.07 kg notebook can also function as an independent Windows 8.1 tablet, weighing only 0.55 kg. It is very flexible and suitable to support the productivity of highly mobile people, especially those who often multitask.

Moreover, the ASUS Transformer Book T100 also comes with ASUS InstantOn technology that will enable the device to instantly response when it’s activated from a maximum 14 days standby mode. The ASUS SonicMaster also offers clear audio production.
