Singapore, 26 October 2016 – Microsoft today announced Alberto Granados as their new vice president of Sales, Marketing and Operations, Asia Pacific, based in Singapore.
In his new role, Granados will lead an organization which spans the entire spectrum of Microsoft products, services and technologies, and over 2,700 employees as well as 63,000 partners across 13 markets. In addition, he will focus on driving Microsoft’s cloud leadership in Asia Pacific.
Most recently, he was vice president, Enterprise and Partner Group (EPG) for Asia – a role that covered the Asia Pacific region as well as Hong Kong, Taiwan, India and Japan. Over the last three years, he was deeply involved in growing the business, developing talents, and accelerating digital transformation efforts, particularly in Australia and Japan, as well as emerging markets in the region.
Granados is no stranger to Asia Pacific, having previously led Microsoft’s EPG business in the region. He was instrumental in establishing Microsoft as a leader in cloud adoption for the financial services sector in the region.
Granados’ career in the IT industry spans over 25 years, most of which has been with Microsoft across both mature and emerging markets in Asia Pacific, Latin America and Western Europe. He joined Microsoft in 1995 and has held several roles within the organization, including Consulting Services director, Dynamics lead, as well as general manager, EPG, Latin America.
On re-joining Microsoft’s leadership team in this region, Granados said, “The next wave of growth in Asia Pacific is being fuelled by the region’s highly mobile, highly connected and highly social citizens and businesses. Microsoft is the leading partner in this digital transformation process and I look forward to helping customers to realize their potential to achieve more.”
Granados will report to Ralph Haupter, president, Microsoft Asia and corporate vice-president, Microsoft Corporation. Haupter commented, “We are thrilled to have Alberto drive sales, marketing and operations in one of the most important and dynamic regions for us. Having built much of his career with Microsoft, he has proven himself as a seasoned and well-respected business leader. Most importantly, he brings with him a solid track record in Asia Pacific’s diverse landscape to empower enterprise customers, government and partners to seize new opportunities through digital transformation.”
Granados studied at Lycée Français, Universidad Politécnica and holds a postgraduate degree from Programa de Desarrollo de Directivos by the IESE Business School of the Universidad de Navarra.
He is married with two children. In his spare time, he is a vocational caricaturist, medium-distance runner and loves all kinds of music.
