First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University and Microsoft to jointly build first ASEAN cross-border medical center

The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University and Microsoft have signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation that actively responds to the call of the country and accelerates the extension of the Belt and Road Initiative to healthcare, covering the ASEAN region with high-quality medical resources.

Beijing China – November 18 – Microsoft announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a strategic cooperation with the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University (“the hospital”). As part of the agreement, Microsoft will help bring the hospital into the digital era by building an IT system anchored in its world-leading technologies and mature industry ecosystem covering cloud computing, AI, big data, Iota, and healthcare industry solutions. Given the government’s supportive policies in healthcare, the hospital will also leverage the Microsoft Intelligent Cloud and its global coverage, to give full play to their advantages in talent, research, and the market, build a cross-border medical alliance and medical training center, and expand medical resources and medical cooperation to Vietnam and the entire ASEAN region at large, thus helping build-up the Belt and Road Initiative in the field of healthcare.

According to the strategic MoU, both sides will cooperate on the areas including hospital IT infrastructure construction and optimization, ASEAN Cross-Border Medical Center, regional medical imaging platform, and ASEAN Cross-Border Medical Training Center.
