COLOMBO, Sri Lanka – 01 March 2023: For 21 years, student developers have brought their unique technology solutions to life with Imagine Cup to make a difference in the world around them. Starting with just an idea, students form teams of one to four people and leverage Microsoft technology to develop purpose-driven applications for what they’re most passionate about.
The 2023 Imagine Cup is all about global student innovators building together to make a difference with technology and developing their own skills along the way. From the hundreds of teams in Southeast Asia New Markets who submitted projects, four teams were chosen to advance to the Imagine Cup World Finals in March 2023.

Project: Sanchar is a technology-based solution aimed at bridging the communication gap between individuals who are deaf or are unable to speak and those who are not, enabling individuals using sign language to have a better lifestyle.

Project: Simplifying Carbon Accounting by offering an innovative, real-time mobile-based emission management system using the latest technologies for organizations to monitor, achieve emission goals, reduce carbon taxes, and encourage going greener.
Each of the teams will be awarded a cash prize of USD $1,000 to further develop their projects, get feedback from the judges, and progress directly to the Imagine Cup World Finals.
In addition to celebrating the top four teams, the top 12 teams from the Southeast Asia New Markets Regional Finals will be awarded a cash prize of USD $500 and will gain access to a team of mentors who will assist them in making their products more marketable. This will increase their chances of launching their startups successfully in their respective industries.
