Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei – March 14, 2023: Microsoft assured the government and people of Brunei of its commitment to collaborating with them on their journey to a Digital Brunei, from providing essential services to improving infrastructure, sustainability, and more.
At a recent summit in Brunei, Microsoft leaders laid out the emerging digital landscape in a series of talks that covered the use of technology like Azure to ‘Do More with Less’, the importance of security and the development of human capital, all geared towards building a digital economy. It was attended by government officials and those from the private sector, including Microsoft partners.
In her keynote speech, Sook Hoon Cheah, general manager, Microsoft Southeast Asia New Markets said: “As the world changes, our industries and economies need to grow on par with the global pace. Cloud, in the era of AI, will accelerate the journey towards building a Digital Brunei, as the government looks into advancing essential services, improving critical infrastructure, human capital and economic growth. Microsoft Cloud is aptly positioned to lead this digital acceleration with our platforms, tools and zero trust security framework.”
The use of AI will empower the government, public and private sectors, enabling flexibility and efficiency in their services. Furthermore, the responsible use of technology and cloud services will enhance security in cyber space. Microsoft’s products and services will support this national transformation and make them more accessible to the people of Brunei.
Recognizing the importance of the role of women in the socio-economic development of the country, Microsoft also organized a dialogue to mark International Women’s Day, titled ‘Stronger TogetHER’. Microsoft partners and Sook Hoon Cheah shared their experiences as women in technology and being part of a dynamic and ever evolving industry.
