As Managing Director, Laurence is at the forefront of steering the Malaysian subsidiary towards realizing Microsoft’s global mission: to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. His leadership is pivotal to fuel Cloud and AI transformation for Malaysia and propelling the adoption of commercial and consumer products, services, and solutions.  

Guiding the dynamic team in Malaysia, Laurence oversees more than 200 employees and over 2,800 Microsoft partners who are helping customers across sectors and industries to accelerate innovation, while empowering Malaysia’s talent and communities with skilling opportunities. 

His vision for Microsoft in Malaysia extends beyond technology. He is a firm believer in fostering a culture that empowers employees, prioritizing their well-being and professional growth – nurturing ambition, curiosity, inclusivity, and empathy.  

With over three decades of experience in the industry, Laurence has held leadership positions at globally renowned tech firms. Prior to joining Microsoft, he was at Amazon Web Services (AWS) for seven years where he led Malaysia, Asia Emerging Markets, and Global Accounts across the ASEAN region. Laurence is the first employee and country head of AWS in Malaysia. 

Before that, he was also a Senior Director and the first Country General Manager for VMware Malaysia and Brunei for close to five years. Laurence has also served at Cisco for 11 years starting as a Technical Consultant and working his way up to become Director of the Strategic Business Solution Group.  

Laurence graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Monash University in Melbourne, where he majored in Computer Science. Outside of work, he enjoys a variety of interests from street photography and culinary arts to camping, hiking, and travelling with his family.
